FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Infrared Heat
Far infrared saunas differ from traditional saunas by directly heating the body, not just the surrounding air. Utilizing infrared wavelengths, the sauna penetrates into the body’s tissue, raising the core body temperature. This not only stimulates the lymphatic, immune, and cardiovascular systems but also induces profuse sweating and production of heat shock proteins. The body’s natural response to infrared heat, combined with water’s resonance with far infrared, enhances detoxification. For optimal results, heaters positioned all around the body are vital. Some other infrared saunas don’t have heaters on the front wall and in omitting these, the whole front of the body is not exposed to infrared. This understanding underpins Clearlight® Saunas’ design, ensuring heaters encompass you from all sides: front, back, sides, and legs.
The infrared frequency of any infrared heater is determined by the surface temperature of the heater itself. The lower the surface temperature of the heater, the longer the infrared wave and the more beneficial the infrared heat will be. Clearlight® patented True Wave® II heaters run at an optimal 200 degree surface temperature producing exceptional quality far infrared heat. This means their heaters produce the majority of the infrared heat in the vital wave range of 5 to 15 microns with a good portion of wavelengths at 9.4, the optimal absorption range of far infrared by the human body. Only Clearlight® Infrared True Wave® II heaters combine the high infrared output of ceramic with long wave carbon infrared heat to produce the most effective infrared heaters available.
Yes, far infrared heat is entirely safe. It’s a form of natural radiant energy that our bodies experience daily from the sun, minus the harmful ultraviolet rays. In fact, hospitals use infrared heat as a method to warm newborn infants. When used appropriately, as in the case of Clearlight® Saunas, the gentle and warming infrared heat offers therapeutic benefits without any adverse side effects. Always consult with a healthcare professional if you have specific health concerns or conditions before using any sauna.
Yes. The ideal way to use any infrared sauna is to have the infrared heaters on the entire time producing the optimal infrared heat you desire. Infrared heat is most effective at lower temperatures as sweat oils secrete at lower temperatures and this sweat is different than water sweat. Your Clearlight® infrared sauna is designed to heat your body more so than to heat the cabin (about 80% of the heat heats your body and 20% of the heat heats the sauna cabin). The following is our recommendation for use of your sauna:
1) Turn your sauna on and set the controller to the maximum temperature. Let your sauna warm up for 20 to 40 minutes depending on the ambient temperature of the room.
2) After the warm up time, begin your sauna session.
3) Since the key to infrared therapy is heating your body core, you will find that you sweat more sitting up in the sauna with your back lined up with the back wall heaters heating your body core from the back. This positions you in such a way that the front wall heaters will be heating your front body core.
4) During your session the temperature will slowly climb inside the sauna cabin. Remember, your Clearlight® infrared sauna is heating your body more so than heating the air.
5) Stay Well Hydrated. It’s essential to stay well hydrated when using your sauna. It is estimated that 70% of people are dehydrated. When you are dehydrated, your body holds on to water and will not allow you to sweat very much. It is recommended to drink water before you get in the sauna and bring a quart of water into the sauna with you and drink it during your session.
Clearlight’s full spectrum heaters, integral to our Sanctuary models, represent a leap forward in infrared sauna technology. These 2 x 500-watt heaters on the front glass wall provide a comprehensive therapeutic experience by emitting near, mid, and far infrared wavelengths. The near-infrared wavelengths are excellent for wound healing and cell regeneration, while mid-infrared wavelengths penetrate deeper into the body, assisting with pain relief and improving circulation. Coupled with the far-infrared’s detoxifying effects, users receive a holistic health boost. Additionally, these heaters enhance the sauna’s temperature by 10-15 degrees compared to our Premier line, offering a more intense and enriching sauna experience.
Sauna Features
Clearlight’s use of FSC Certified sustainable Okoume Mahogany brings both aesthetic and ethical benefits to our saunas. Mahogany is renowned for its beautiful grain and rich color, elevating the sauna’s interior to a luxurious experience. Beyond its visual appeal, Mahogany is durable and resistant to warping, ensuring the longevity of the sauna. Opting for FSC Certified wood also reflects Clearlight’s commitment to sustainability, ensuring the wood is sourced from responsibly managed forests, aligning with both environmental and user well-being.
Clearlight’s choice of North American Basswood for our saunas combines health, durability, aesthetic, and economic advantages. Known for its hypoallergenic properties, Basswood is an ideal choice for those with Multiple Chemical Sensitivities, being one of the rare woods not categorized as a “sensitizer.” Beyond its health attributes, Basswood’s hard and durable nature makes it exceptionally suited for saunas, ensuring longevity and consistent performance. Aesthetically, its smooth grain and tranquil hue set a serene ambiance. And, being more abundant than Mahogany, it offers a cost-effective yet beautiful alternative.
Clearlight® Premier Saunas feature a traditional design, creating a cozy and intimate ambiance for users. The incorporation of a distinctive bentwood lamp shade further accentuates this setting, casting a warm and comforting glow.
Conversely, Sanctuary Saunas embody a sleek, modern Italian aesthetic. Thick tempered glass is used across the front wall and over a third of the ceiling imparting an open and contemporary feel. Sanctuary models also feature two powerful 500 watt Full Spectrum heaters that emit near, mid, and far infrared heat, enhancing the therapeutic experience. Recent Premier models now provide an option to include a single 300 watt Full Spectrum heater on the door.
Technological integration is another hallmark of the Sanctuary model saunas. They seamlessly sync with the Clearlight® App, transforming your smartphone or tablet into a sauna control panel. This allows for real-time remote adjustments, from turning the sauna on or off to modulating the temperature. For user convenience, Sanctuary Saunas are equipped with a special cubby to safely store and charge devices during sessions.
Each Premier Sauna comes with basic Chromotherapy which consists of 36 color-changing LEDs each. This will give a light infusion of the color of your choice in the sauna. Each Sanctuary Sauna comes standard with Advanced Chromotherapy. This system is a panel of 96 LEDs which will give a brilliant infusion of the colored light of your choice. Controlled by a handheld remote, the intensity and vibrancy of the selected colored light can be adjusted to the perfect level each time.
Delivery and Setup
Your new Clearlight® Infrared Sauna will generally arrive in your state within one to two weeks from the date it leaves the warehouse in Northern California. As part of our commitment to exceptional customer service, every Clearlight® Infrared Sauna is shipped with a few higher levels of service. The following business day after it gets picked up, you’ll receive an email with tracking. As the sauna gets closer to you, the freight carrier will call to schedule an appointment to deliver your sauna. Your sauna will be delivered on a truck with a lift gate to ensure that any possibility of freight damage is minimized. The sauna will be delivered curbside on a pallet in several large boxes. We recommend having at least one other person present to help you move the boxes into your home. If you would like to have the sauna professionally installed, please let us know at the time of your order and we can help connect you with a recommended installer in your area that you can hire.
Some people like to hire a handyman to assist with the installation process, but most of our customers assemble their saunas themselves. It usually takes two people 1-2 hours to assemble a Premier and 2-3 hours to assemble a Sanctuary. No tools are required for the overall assembly except a screwdriver for the door handle and the included Allen wrench to connect the glass in Clearlight® Sanctuary saunas. All the components such as the heaters, lights and sound system come pre-installed in the walls.

Warranty and Privacy Policy
Clearlight® infrared saunas are backed by 20 years in business, an A+ rating with the BBB and a Lifetime Warranty. This warranty is a true lifetime warranty covering the entire sauna and all its components for the original owner. As long as you own your sauna, we guarantee it is working properly and free from manufacturer’s defects.
Clearlight® is proud to be the only company that provides you with a lifetime warranty on the entire sauna – heaters, wood, controls and electrical. Your Clearlight® infrared sauna is built in a modular fashion so replacing parts or panels is never an issue. Only the highest quality materials are used in each Clearlight® Infrared Sauna to minimize the possibility of warranty issues.
The warranty also includes a 7-year warranty on labor. The saunas are designed to be user serviceable, so in most cases, we can send you the necessary replacement component and you can swap it out with very easy instructions from us. Within the first 7 years, if for any reason you don’t feel comfortable doing this yourself, we will send a technician to do it for you. After 7 years, we will still keep providing you with any necessary components and instructions on how to easily install them. During this time frame, if you don’t feel comfortable doing it yourself, you can hire a handyman to assist you.
The exterior cabin of outdoor sauna models comes with a 5-year warranty. Everything inside the sauna is covered by the same lifetime warranty as Clearlight’s indoor sauna models.
Although most sauna companies call their warranty, “Lifetime,” in addition to multiple exclusions listed at the top of the warranty, you will usually find fine print at the bottom of the warranty. Typically, this fine print will say, “Lifetime Warranty” is “defined as 7 years.”
In fact, here is the fine print quoted directly from a competitor’s “Lifetime Warranty” – *Limited Lifetime Warranty covers normal use for the lifetime of the product which is defined as 7 years. Warranty is limited to replacement parts only and does not include costs for crating of glass door or freight for parts shipped past 90 days from the date of receipt of goods. The cost of labor and/or service technicians is not included. This warranty is limited to customers in the United States and Canada.
The Clearlight® Lifetime Warranty is really what it says it is – Lifetime for the original owner, with no fine print about “Lifetime meaning just 7 years.” If an original Clearlight® owner is having a service issue anytime, even if they’ve had their sauna for decades, any replacement parts can be shipped at no cost to the customer. This is how the business has always been run and will continue to run because Clearlight® feels it’s the right thing to do.
Integrity is a word Clearlight takes very seriously.
